Clinical skincare for
Thread veins
Find out about thread veins, and how we can safely and effectively treat them with clinical skincare at Belsanté.
Thread veins are also known as red veins, spider veins, spider naevi and broken capillaries (or by the scientific term, telangiectasia) - but whatever you call them, they're not very pleasant to look at.
Numerous factors and causes can lead to thread veins, including: ageing; genetic factors; certain skin conditions, such as rosacea; prolonged sun exposure, or very cold weather; extreme physical exertion; smoking; hormonal changes; pregnancy; spectacles rubbing against the skin (!); and even constipation (!!).
So it's perhaps unsurprising that thread veins are so commonplace. But despite this, and despite being completely harmless, many people are keen to get rid of them as they're often considered a sign of ageing - and also because some people wrongly assume that they're a definitive sign of alcohol abuse.
With clinical skincare at Belsanté, thread veins can be safely and thoroughly treated, helping to restore a fresher and healthier look to the skin.
How we can treat
your thread veins
Thread veins can be safely and effectively treated with Advanced Electrolysis treatments at Belsanté.
Using diathermy techniques, each capillary can be precisely targeted with a tiny single-use disposable needle, gradually working to erase each micro-section of the capillary in succession.
In most cases, you can expect to see a reduction of up to 80% of each thread vein. It is often not possible to fully eradicate every broken capillary, as some proportion of it will be too far beneath the surface of the skin for the treatment to be effective.
How long will the
treatment take?
Multiple sections of a thread vein can be treated in a single treatment session - but it will likely require several sessions before the treatment of each thread vein can be completed.
This is an intensive process, and the skin can become damaged with prolonged treatment in one sitting.
To prevent lasting damage to your skin, treatment on any particular area of skin is limited to a maximum of 15 minutes per session, with a minimum interval of 6 weeks between treatments on the same area.
However, multiple different areas of skin (e.g. the nose, the chin and the décolleté) can be treated safely during the same treatment session.
At Belsanté, your safety is always our absolute priority.
How much will it cost to
treat your thread veins?
Treatment of thread veins with Advanced Electrolysis is priced according to the duration of each treatment session:
15-minute session: £100
30-minute session: £175
60-minute session: £300
Your Belsanté aesthetician will advise on the number of treatment sessions that are likely to be needed. However, this will only be an estimate, as it will ultimately depend on how your thread veins respond to the treatment.

Let's get started!
Before we can begin your treatment, we'll first need to book you in for a Clinical Skincare Assessment.
This free consultation is required for all clinical skincare at Belsanté. During this session, your aesthetician will assess the condition of your skin and its unique requirements, and determine how best to safely and effectively treat your thread veins.
She will guide you through the details of your treatment, including any post-treatment aftercare that may be needed. She will also be happy to answer any questions that you may have about your treatment.
