Clinical skincare

Assessment

Before we can begin treating your skin condition or blemish, we will first need to see you for a Clinical Skincare Assessment (CSA).

The CSA is a free consultation, which is required for all clinical skincare at Belsanté (except Microblading and Lip Blush treatments, for which a separate Pre-Treatment Assessment is carried out).

The CSA takes around 20-30 minutes, and is an essential part of the treatment process, performing these three vital functions:

1. It allows your aesthetician to assess the condition of your skin, and your general health, to ensure that you can be treated safely. At Belsanté, your safety is always our absolute priority.

2. It gives your aesthetician the information she needs to create your personal clinical skincare programme, based on the unique condition and requirements of your skin.

3. It provides an opportunity to guide you through the clinical skincare process, including any post-treatment aftercare that may be required, as well as answering any questions you may have, before we begin treating you.

You can find out more about the Clinical Skincare Assessment in the sections below.

Assessing your skin
and your health

The most important function of the CSA is that it allows your aesthetician to assess both the condition of your skin, and your general health.

Some clinical skincare treatments and procedures may not be suitable for people with certain health issues or skin conditions, or those taking specific medications.

For this reason, your aesthetician will need to ask you about the current state of your health and/or your medical history, as well as any medications that you are currently taking (or which you have taken over the last twelve months or so).

For your safety, it is vital that the information you provide to your aesthetician is complete and accurate.

Please be assured that any and all personal information that you share with us is treated in the very strictest confidence.

For the treatment of certain skin conditions or blemishes, such as mole reduction, we cannot proceed with treatment without a letter of referral from your GP, explicitly stating that it is safe to do so.

Your safety is always our top priority, and we will not be able to proceed with any clinical skincare treatment or procedure unless we are absolutely satisfied that you can be treated safely.

Your personal clinical
skincare programme

Having assessed your skin, and its unique composition and requirements, your aesthetician will develop your personal clinical skincare programme, just for you.

She will then guide you through your programme, carefully explaining each element in turn:

  • The treatments/procedures: How they work, how they're carried out, and what you can expect from them.
  • After each treatment: Understanding how your skin will look immediately after each treatment session, and how long it may take to completely heal.
  • Post-treatment aftercare: To accelerate the skin's healing, and to prevent scarring, it's essential that you follow the aesthetician's instructions for taking care of your skin after each treatment session.
  • Additional home skincare: Your aesthetician may also make further skincare recommendations, whether to help you in managing a chronic skin condition; or simply to improve or maintain your skin's health and beauty on an ongoing basis.

She will also ensure that you have clear and realistic expectations of the clinical skincare process in relation to your specific skin condition or blemish.

Finally, if needed, she will perform a patch test, to ensure that the treatment or procedure can be safely carried out on your skin; and to ensure that you are comfortable with how the treatment or procedure works in practice.
